For Hours Of Enjoyment Add A Window Bird Feeder

Enjoying the birds in your back yard or on your deck is always a relaxing and entertaining experience but wouldn’t it be great if you could glance out the window and get a glimpse of some of that activity? Well you can! You can have hours of enjoyment by adding a window bird feeder to your home. In fact why not add two or three?

A window feeder is a terrific way to view the birds while you are busy in your home. It’s a great way to put a smile on your face! You can suddenly get up close and personal without disturbing the birds. In fact they’ll not even know you are there.

Installing a window feeder where it’s visible from a kitchen table or favorite chair in your living room are excellent choices. After all why not enjoy these little creatures over your morning coffee. Let’s face it they are excellent value in entertainment!

Window feeders are an excellent alternative if you don’t have a yard. For anyone that lives in a condo, apartment, townhouse, or any other accommodations where you might not have a yard these feeders allow you to stay in touch with Mother Nature.

The big question is what type of feeder to buy. With so many choices how do you decide? Understanding the two basic types is a good place to start and then from there you can decide on the style and size that you want.

One type attaches directly to the window while the other places itself in the windowsill. The type that attaches to the window usually uses either Velcro or strong suction cups. These are smaller feeders so that they can be held in place with these systems.

The windowsill feeders can be larger because they have a better system of attaching that makes them much sturdier. You can also use more than one which means you can attract more birds. Now wouldn’t that be great?

Oh yes and another added bonus is the fact that these feeders are squirrel proof because they can’t get up to the window. Well at least in most cases. Of course there is the occasional setup where they might be able to reach the window.

The solarium feeders are very popular because of their unique ability to protrude from an open window into the house but it is secured outside. The adjustable sides make it more flexible. You have to decide if this style is for you though because the window must remain open and not everyone is okay with that. Where you live depends on how safe this is. It can also interfere with some types of alarms.

You can add extra support for the windowsill feeders by using tension poles like those used for your shower. These rods are a great way to sturdy things up and they are really cheap to buy.

The large seed trays are great for large number of birds. They have a high capacity so you can even divide them so you can provide a variety of seed if you like. So if you want only a few birds pick small but if you want a family pick larger. And of course the larger your windowsill is the larger the feeder you choose can be.

Before you make a purchase you need to know what will fit. You can do this by taking the measurements of your windowsill. Just about every feeder for sale online will have the dimensions posted and instate will have them on the boxes so you’ll quickly be able to tell whether it will work or not.

If you choose the style that attaches directly to your window you’ll find quite a bit of flexibility. These feeders are considerably smaller but you can place more of them on your windows if you like. And an added bonus is how good they look. They look fabulous attached to a variety of windows and the birds will love it too!

Of course these types of feeders are available at your local garden center or even at the department store but chances are they’ll carry only a dozen or so styles. Instead what you should do is shop online.

There you’ll find at hundreds of different choices perhaps even thousands. And you can buy from around the world which means you have access to styles that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to use.

Now of course there are other types of feeders with the tube feeder being very popular because it is difficult for the squirrels and other pesky creatures to get into these feeders.

There are other specialty feeders like those used for hummingbirds and these can quite literally be a work of art. Hummingbirds feed on nectar so there is an opportunity to create a very artistic feeder. If hummingbirds are native to your area be sure to include a couple of feeders as these creatures a terrific to watch.
