Whimsical Birdhouses

When you hear the word whimsical what comes to mind? Perhaps visions of a little folk art? A little country? It’s a little difficult to put to words isn’t it? Yet it instantly brings warm fuzzy feelings to the surface. Have you ever considered whimsical birdhouses for your yard?

If you haven’t you should! Why you ask? Well because you will love the look and feel especially if you are a person that loves to feel connected, loves the warmth that can be generated by those impulsive buys, and wants to not only create a place for the birds to enjoy but also wants to create an atmosphere in the back yard.

To get you going in the right direction of what might be considered whimsical I thought a few examples would be helpful.

1. The Gingerbread Cottage
The bright white exterior and paned windows make this a favorite with the home owner and the birds. Attention to detail including windows, shutters, railings, and even eaves makes this a real gem that really stands out.
2. The Charmer
Here is a house that has certainly earned its name with its pleasing white frame and spacious floor plan. Yet is looks ever so cozy. One glance and it instantly captures your heart.
3. The Grandfather Clock
Now here is a rather unusual birdhouse. It looks like a real grandfather clock and provides a very exclusive residence for your local bird population with its spacious floor plan. It’s quaint and ever so fitting!
4. The Cottage
Your birds deserve the best and this is got to be it. This little gem is intricately detailed and ever so quaint. It provides ample housing space and the overhang ensures that pesky pests can’t gain access and the birds are also protected from the elements. Whimsical at its best!
5. The Chalet
Are your friends ready for a weekend at the chalet? You can’t help but impress them with this three story wood piece. This one is definitely going to add a little character to your yard!
6. The School House
Now this one is priceless! Here you have a traditional old fashion one room school house with no detail left unturned. And your bird guests have plenty of places to explore and relax.

Your backyard is really part of your home. Today most of us live in an urban environment and have a tough time connecting with Mother Nature. So every opportunity we have to make our space feel relaxed and invite a few guests is a great experience.

If you take the time to attract your bird friends they will come. Add a couple of whimsical birdhouses to your yard and your guests will begin arriving shortly and you’ll get to those warm fuzzy feelings that whimsical is so good at creating.
