Sometimes placing a feeder isn’t quite as easy as you thought it would be. Suddenly there’s just no perfect place and what you wouldn’t do to have a pole. That’s just the reason why you want to check out the pole bird feeders that have come onto the market. Installing a feeder has never been easier.

As we mentioned before you can buy all kinds of different styles online with a wide range of pricing attached to them according to what they have to offer. A middle of the road pole will probably cost you around $20 which is very affordable.

You will need to ensure that the pole you choose is adequate for the size and type of feeder you are going to use. Small feeders are no problem at all while larger ones need additional support. There are three types of feeders – platforms, hoppers, and tubes– so choose your poles according to the feeder or feeders you will be using.

1. Platform Feeder
Is a flat box style feeder that can be hung, set on the ground, or placed on its own legs. They are perfect for ground feeders like juncos, doves, and sparrows as well as a variety of other birds but they also work very well on a pole for the birds that like to get up off the ground.
2. Hopper Feeders
The hopper feeders are available in a wide range of styles and sizes with the miniature barn being the most traditional design. This style holds a lot of seed so you don’t have to fill it daily. The roof lifts off so it is very easy to fill. And because they are available in just about any size you can think of and you can hang them on a pole, in a tree, or mount them. Big and small birds all like this style of feeder and the use of the pole gives you great flexibility.

3. Tube Feeders
Are a long cylinder tube with perches along the base at the feed ports and commonly filled with sunflower seeds. Other creatures like the squirrels aren’t able to steal the seed in this style feeder. Woodland birds like the chickadee, woodpecker, finch, titmice, and nuthatches all like this type of feeder.

4. Specialty Feeders
Feeders like the hummingbird feeder is very popular and also readily available. If you live in an area that has resident hummingbirds chances are you couldn’t resist getting a feeder. After all watching these little gems is truly breathtaking.

Which ever type of feeder you decide on remember that the pole bird feeder is a great way to encourage those new neighbors to move on in!
