Birdhouses are a great addition to a patio, deck, or back yard and not only do they look great they are very functional. And adding a little touch of country with country bird houses will create a terrific mood.

In the spirit of country you can create quite a relaxing, rustic environment the birds will love and so will you and your guests. Mix up the bird houses, add some feeders, and maybe a bird bath or two and you can have your very own bird community.

Different birds are native to different areas. When you choose your bird houses you need to make sure they meet the needs of your local species because birds can be very fussy and they just will not use them if they aren’t right.

You can choose houses that are ready to hang and use, buy a bird house kit, or buy a pre-fab that just needs painting or decorating. Decorating can be a lot of fun and all you need is a few paints from the craft store. Add your own personal touch.

Kits are complete with everything right down to the nails. They may or may not have the paint included. But paint is easy to find at your local craft store or even Walmart.

The look of country is lively, friendly, warm, and inviting. It sets a mood of friendship and relaxation and there’s just nothing boring about it! Country also tends to have more of a personal aspect than other styles.

There are many different species of birds. Some are known as cavity dwellers because which nest inside hollow tree trunks. The birdhouse needs to simulate this cavity. Other types of birds have other housing requirements so make sure you know their needs. Build it and they will come.

When you hang your bird houses place them in spaces that remain shaded throughout the day because that’s where most birds tend to build their homes in nature. The north side of a tree is always an excellent choice. There’s an important reason for this – if it’s too hot the eggs can be destroyed.

Your birdhouse should be easy to open so that you can remove old nesting material annually. If you don’t clean it out the birds won’t return. You should always wear gloves and goggles to protect against parasites and rodents that could be hiding in the nest. If you live in an area where there are poisonous snakes you need to be careful.
